AI Recap - Rock and Roll!

Adam kicks off the show for once in what can only be described as a fashion atrocity.  I don't what was worse - the deep V or the spikes on the jacket.  Looking past that this week was pretty much made for Adam - over the top at its core.  It was a very good performance.

In other news Kara has officially outstayed her welcome.  Her comments lack any insight and unlike Paula she's not entertaining in the least.

Tonight was probably my favorite performance from Allison.  Finally something showed off her voice and her musical style.  Unfortunately I feel like the judges are prohibited from giving her too much praise since the powers that be are set on an all male top 3.

Renegade????? Styx?????  This has been one of my favorite songs since I danced to it in 9th grade so I geeked out a little when I heard Kris sing the first notes.  Can't really say that I enjoyed the duet and it's hard to figure out what the purpose of them is really supposed to be.  Is it supposed to be a head to head comparison?  Should we base votes on their performance as a whole? I don't get it.  Just like I don't get the dog collar the Idol stylist put around Danny Gokey's neck.

It was a swoonless night for me as Kris disappointed a bit.  The song choice was a bit cliche and his voice really didn't sound great in the lower register.  I'd rate it at the bottom of the Kris Allen anthology but I still hope he makes it into next week.

And now a haiku for Gokey.....
Dearest Danny G
Please spare my tender, young ears
Lambert you are not.

Holy tight pants Batman....waaaaay too much Glambert to behold.  He and Allison did a great job but the jury is in and the duets are dumb.  Along with the 4th judge they should go next year.

This week's elimination is a tough one to call.  While it will definitely come down to Kris and Allison I could honestly see it going either way.  I'm going to make the call and say Allison will be eliminated due to Kris' fans cranking up the voting after the judges' harsh comments tonight.

PS - I'd like a moment of silence in honor of Lil Kim's premature elimination on DWTS...........thank you.

PPS - Anyone else catch SYTYCD alums Travis Wall and Nick Lazzarini performing in the Stars of Dance number?

DWTS Recap

We're down to 7 couples - most of whom are pretty good.  The addition of the group dance seemed to throw off a few of the celebs but most came through with pretty solid performances. In honor of the 60's themed routine.....

Leader(s) of the Pack
From first few seconds Melissa and Tony danced I thought she would get perfect 10s.  For one of the first times I actually love the costume!  It was beautifully choreographed and almost flawlessly danced.  Of course fuddy duddy Len had to ruin it with the 9 but I still think they deserved a 30.  Shark had another solid performance and should be well on there way to the finale.  In a role reversal Derek seemed to take over the sexy with his lip synching while Lil Kim showed a softer side and some flexibility.  I know Regis will love that one but I prefer my Lil Kim with a little more spice.

You've Lost that Loving Feeling
Personally I was bored with Gilles and Cheryl and I think Cheryl has lost a little of the umph in her choreography lately.  Similarly Lawrence and Edyta lost that spark this week.  Chalk some of it up to song selection (Journey? Really?) but the style just didn't click with LT.  Hopefully next week he'll be back stronger.

Do The Freddie
Just like this awesome dance Ty is cute, but still awkward.  He did make a good rebound this week, seemed more comfortable and even hit some nice lines with his arms.

Stand by Your Man
I think it's obvious Julianne is the only thing keeping Chuck in the competition at this point.  Way to show your lack of celebrity status by highlighting your gig in Waverly Alabama.  I'm from Alabama and I don't even know where that is.  They are annoying and don't deserve anymore of my (virtual) ink.

DWTS Recap

Those of you looking for more Music Madness....yeah this probably isn't for you but if you're a fan of sequins, top hats and batucadas keep reading.

Denise and Maks - Woeful.  I thought Kim Kardashian was bad but Denise makes her look like Ginger Rogers.  America please put her (and me) out of her misery.

Chuck and Julianne - Good but not great.  Their whole couple act is annoying.

Holly and Dmitry - She literally looked like a Barbie doll out there - immovable joints and all.  Horrible.

Steve-o and Lacey - I really love Steve-o on this show!  You can tell he is trying so hard and is really in pain.  Even though he forgot a big chunk of the dance he gets a pass from me.

LT and Edyta - How are football players always so good on this show?  Agility?  Footwork?

Shawn and Mark - She's really good but still looks like a chipmunk to me.  Not much else to say.

Gilles and Cheryl - OK last week I thought he was overrated but all I can say is wow.  He was damn good.  It also totally throws me off that he's French and not Latino - wtf?  Oh also whoever thought pink and red didn't clash was wrong!

David Allen Grier (because the man can't be called by one name) and Kym - Really liked the Broadway feel to this routine.  Props to Kym on the choreography.

Steve and Karina - Steve does the worm. Nuff said

Melissa and Tony - I love how they keep using creative patches of rhinestones to cover up her tramp stamp tattoo.  It's clear that she's a trained dancer so it's pretty unfair but very nice performance.  Also I don't know why it took me like 6 seasons to realize but Tony is hot...real talk.

Lil Kim and Derek - I had really high expectations for a samba from LK and I must say I was left a little disappointed.  It just seemed like she was overthinking it.

Ty and Chelsie - This guy is really growing on me and Chelsie is awesome.  They should have enough votes to stick around.

Double the Fun

Spring has sprung (at least here in the ATL) and for those of us who love TV that means we are at the height of our reality season. My plate is full with Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Top Model and the Amazing Race which means a double serving of reality recap today!

The first episode of Dancing with the Stars is always a little full but entertaining none the less. Quotes of the night definitely go to Lil Kim...
"The first time I saw Dancing With the Stars was when I was in prison"
"Dedicated to all my girls in the federal detention center"
Despite her inexplicable pride in her incarceration the Queen Bee has potential to be the breakout star of this season. You can also add gymnast Shawn Johnson to that list. She and Mark will be a force to be reckoned with; plus we all know he has an excellent track record with Olympians.

I hated Jackass the show (even though Johnny Knoxville was looking damn good in the audience) but I'm actually pulling for Stevo-O. He was adorable doing his chaine turns with a goofy smile in a pin-striped suit. And he was so happy at the end!!

It's always good to see So You Think You Can Dance alums doing well - there really aren't too many good gigs out there for dancers. I loved Chelsie and Dmitry on SYTYCD and I'm glad they're joining Lacey on this show.

Finally, I couldn't have said it better than the judges, "The Bachelor's loss is DWTS' gain" I'm glad to see Melissa gets to extend her 15 minutes a little longer and I LOVED all the Jason bashing by the judges...jerk totally deserves it all.

No elimination until after another round of dances next week so no predictions here.

Next up...American Idol
I knew there would be a double elimination this season but I didn't expect it this early. I don't really think it's giving people enough time to establish themselves but oh well. This is getting a bit long so I'm just going to keep it to grades tonight.

Lil - B+
Scott - B-
Danny - A+! OK this was too good for me not to comment on. I was one of the people getting tired of the producers shoving him down our throats but DAMN that was great! I even liked the dancing so take that Simon!
Michael - B
Jasmine - B-
Kris - B+ in reality but an A because I'm in love with him
Allison - B
Anoop - C+
Jorge - B
Megan - C
Adam - C+ - Someone please make him stop. I can hardly listen to him sing and don't understand WHAT the judges are hearing. I would love to know what kind of album they think he could put out right now and be successful - Phantom of the Opera - T-Pain remix?
Matt - B
Alexis - A- I was wishing and hoping someone would do this song and I thought she did great!!

I really don't know who is going to go home but my personal picks would be Megan and Jasmine. It's time to get the dead weight women out of here!
